Prime Suspects

He also mentioned that there is evidence suggesting that some sort of dispute may have taken place between Santis-Shea and Don Víctor. However, no further information has been released at this time which could potentially complicate or clarify any connection between these two individuals.

Frank Gaitan, director general of migration for Hispaniola’s Ministry of Labor and Social Security stated that his agency was working with authorities in order to investigate whether or not any members of Santis-Shea’s family had entered into Dominican Republic illegally. He went on to say that as far as he knew there was “no record” of her having any undocumented relatives


Today marks the one-year anniversary of the tragic deaths of Dr. Desena and her team in the Dominican Republic. The world was shocked when we learned of their apparent execution, and it has hardly stopped since then—the tragedy has taken on a life of its own, spanning continents and leaving behind shattered families and traumatized patients everywhere it’s been shared.
